About Me, Pat Acklie-Roth

I dedicate this website to my children, Michelle Kae Erlenbusch & Don Ray Boyce. They are the most precious & beautiful of all my earthly accomplishments. I am a better person because they have been in my life. Always & forever, I love you, Mom.

I grew up near Wausa, Nebraska, a small village located in the north east part of Nebraska, bordering on South Dakota and Iowa. I have enjoyed living in and traveling to many beautiful places in the United States, Canada, and Africa.

I earned my degrees in Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing and Fashion Merchandising in Jacksonville, Florida, where I operated my studio since 1988. Along with doing custom sewing and alterations, I sold Brother & Studio knitting machines and provided garment construction classes at the studio. I also taught a series of Fitting with Pat Classes at JoAnn Fabrics in Jacksonville. This is a series of 6 sessions, with 6 classes per session. Classes addressed taking proper measurements, making a sloper, & fitting the pattern to the personal measurements. Following sessions included using this sloper to make a blouse, skirt, dress, jacket & slacks.

I am a member of The Association of Sewing and Design Professionals, who has approximately 400 members across the United States and Canada. Our mission is to support individuals engaged in sewing and design related businesses, in both commercial and home-based settings. Our members are involved in professional sewing in a variety of garment sewing specialties, including custom clothing, formal and bridal wear, design, pattern making, tailoring and alterations, accessories, costumes, wearable art, image consulting, production sewing, teaching and other industry-related avenues. Among our ranks are many published authors and instructors who are well-recognized and respected in the industry.

I moved back to Nebraska in 2002 to be near my family. I also hold a degree in Cosmetology, which I feel is another art form. Sewing and quilting is in my family.
